A report by Secretary Cindy on our club’s participation in the recently completed STAR Training, delivered by the District 52 Team at Rotary China

The Special Training for Action in Rotary (S.T.A.R.) was developed by the Rotary Club of El Paso, Texas, USA, in 1976. Since then, it has become an invaluable program across Rotary clubs worldwide — a proven and engaging way to deepen members understanding of Rotary, strengthen club involvement, and prepare future leaders
 
“扶轮行动特别培训”（S.T.A.R.，Special Training for Action in Rotary）由美国德克萨斯州埃尔帕索扶轮社于1976年创立。自那时起，该计划已成为全球各地扶轮社的重要项目——一种行之有效且富有吸引力的方式，帮助会员加深对扶轮社的理解，加强对社务的参与，并培养未来的领导者
 
“Education is learning,” and S.T.A.R. truly embodies this spirit. It provides a strong foundation of Rotary knowledge, a clear understanding of structure of the organization and practical insights into the duties and privileges of membership. Participants come away inspired to serve, lead, and connect with greater confidence and enthusiasm

Learning, Laughter, and Rotary Fellowship

The Rotary Club of Hangzhou recently took part in the S.T.A.R. program — Club President Alex, Secretary Cindy, members Elena, and Max, and our prospective members, Megan, Leo, Brandon and Nadia. We turned the  learning into a lively, laughter-filled experience! The session combined education and fun, bringing together seasoned members and newcomers for an inspiring day of discovery, teamwork, and fellowship
Members engaged in interactive discussions, shared personal Rotary stories, and reflected on how service can make a real difference in the community. There were plenty of smiles and `ah` moments as everyone deepened their understanding of Rotary`s purpose and passion
And of course, no Rotary event is complete without friendship and laughter! Between activities, members enjoyed icebreakers, light-hearted games, and even a few friendly debates about the most memorable service project ever. The positive energy in the room was contagious — a true reflection of the Rotary motto, Service Above Self

学习、欢笑与扶轮情谊

杭州扶轮社近日参与了 S.T.A.R. 培训项目——社长 Alex、秘书 Cindy、会员 Elena 和 Max，以及我们的预备会员 Megan、Leo、Brandon 与 Nadia 一同参加。我们把学习变成了一次充满活力与欢笑的体验！整个课程将教育与乐趣相结合，让资深会员与新成员在探索、合作与情谊中度过了鼓舞人心的一天
在活动中，会员们积极参与互动讨论，分享各自的扶轮故事，并思考服务如何真正改变社区。随着大家对扶轮宗旨与热忱的理解不断加深，现场洋溢着笑容与“原来如此”的惊喜时刻
当然，没有友情与欢笑的扶轮活动是不完整的！在各项活动间隙，会员们进行了破冰游戏、轻松有趣的小竞赛，甚至展开了几场关于“最难忘的服务项目”的友好辩论。现场的积极能量感染了每一个人——这正是扶轮格言“超我服务”（Service Above Self）的真实写照

今年的 S.T.A.R. 培训同样为无法亲临现场的成员提供了参与机会。线上课程中，杭州扶轮社的会员 Ying、Tim 和 Tony 也一同加入，共享学习与交流的精彩时刻

A Step Toward Stronger Service

By the end of the day, everyone left with new knowledge, stronger friendships, and a renewed commitment to Rotary`s mission. As a symbol of our commitment, we signed our names on the “wall of fame “. S.T.A.R. program did not just train members — it reignited their passion for service, leadership, and fellowship
 
With the continued guidance of experienced Rotarians and the enthusiasm of new members, Rotary Club Hangzhou is ready to reach even higher… toward the stars!

迈向更卓越的服务之路

在一天的培训结束时，所有参与者都带着新的知识、更深的情谊，以及对扶轮使命的重新承诺离开。作为这一承诺的象征，我们在墙上郑重签下了自己的名字。S.T.A.R. 项目不仅仅是一场培训，它重新点燃了会员们对服务、领导力与扶轮情谊的热情 
 
在资深扶轮人的持续引导和新会员的热忱推动下，杭州扶轮社已整装待发，准备攀向更高的目标——向星辰进发！
