The Rotary Four-Way Test originated in 1932 when Herbert J. Taylor, a Rotarian, was tasked with rescuing the financially troubled Club Aluminium Company. He developed the 24-word ethical guideline to guide the company’s actions and decisions, which ultimately led to its financial recovery. The Four-Way Test was later adopted by Rotary International in 1943 as a code of ethics for all Rotarians
