Secretary Cindy remembered that Rotary’s September focus was ‘Basic Education and Literacy Month’. President Alex, then discussed how the club could contribute to this important area

Club member Ying mentioned that she had been supporting underprivileged school children in Guizhou province, via an organisation called Bright Journey, for a number of years and that we could potentially find out if the club could support another Guizhou student

After working with a volunteer of the Guizhou program over several days, Ying found another Guizhou student who has experienced a number of challenges in her young life and who could benefit from some modest financial support

It was then agreed that the club would instigate a project to fund this student’s high school education fees for the current year. It was further decided that this project would be funded entirely by the club

The student’s uncle sent us a receipt confirming the educational costs and the donated funds were transferred to the student’s uncle, via Wechat, on October 2^nd, 2025

We maintained contact with the high school student, who has been progressing well with her studies. The club donated funds, to her uncle, to cover this year’s 2^nd semester school fees, on April 7^th, 2026

We are very happy to have been able to support this student’s education and wish her the very best for the future
